Beerenauslese Hessen Nachtgold
European Wine: White Wine
Nachtgold – meaning Gold of the night. This exquisite wine from the Rheinhessen region of Germany is one of the rarest wines in the world. Made from the Botrytis Cinerea (“Noble Rot”) affected grapes. This process happens irregularly when the grapes have had to last through to the end of the season, when a fungus attacks the skins of the grapes, this being the “Noble Rot” as it is known in wine circles. The grapes are harvested after dark, then crushed with this unusual growth which produces a rich, syrupy texture, a flowery bouquet and the most delicious wine ever produced. To be sipped and savoured, more as an after dinner liqueur, to enjoy the full flavour of this superb wine. Will cellar for upto 50 years in the right conditions, and will last (if at all possible) for 6 months in the fridge after opening.
